Show Me for Emergencies FAC serves as an essential communication tool tailored for professionals working in Family Assistance Centers (FAC) during crises involving mass casualties or fatalities. This application is particularly beneficial in facilitating interactions with individuals who may struggle to articulate their needs, including non-English speakers, persons with hearing impairments or cognitive disabilities, and family members experiencing heightened emotional distress.

In the aftermath of events such as natural disasters or aviation accidents, affected family members often seek timely support and information about their missing relatives. This user-friendly app aids in collecting pertinent information from families while disseminating critical updates. Featuring a blend of translated text, auditory messages, and intuitive icons, the application aims to bridge communication gaps in high-stress environments where clear dialogue is paramount.

The app provides the following functionalities:

 <li>Translates icons and vital audio messages into 11 different languages.</li>
 <li>Utilizes clear and comprehensible icons to mitigate communication barriers.</li>
 <li>Educates users about the role of an FAC and assists in preparing for antemortem interviews.</li>
 <li>Facilitates the gathering of information regarding missing persons.</li>
 <li>Enables swift communication through a research-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool.</li>
 <li>Includes specialized "Staff Tips" to guide personnel in conversations with distressed and traumatized family members.</li>
 <li>Offers a feature to "Star" important icons during interactions, allowing for easy review in "My Icons" afterwards.</li>
 <li>Aims to save time, enhance clarity, and build trust during emergency situations.</li>
 <li>Remains functional even in the absence of mobile phone service or WiFi connectivity.</li>
</ul>

The application has been developed by the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, reflecting a commitment to improving crisis communication and support for families in their most challenging times.
